Wednesday, Thursday, Friday...

{I stole this from Romeo + Juliet's blog who stole is from An Angel's Revenge. I had to share because it literally made me Laugh Out Loud! }

Greatest Idea Ever!

So I have been struggling with google reader... Not being motivated to use it. How to use it. Annoyed that I couldn't see the actual blog (the colors, the pictures, the cheery pages of each blog) until I discovered the "Next" button!

My struggles were cured and I could easily go through the pages and pages and pages of blogs on my google reader (that I desperately need to catch up on....eek!) and see every single one in real blog-life! And write comments easily too.
If you don't know what I am talking about: It is a handy dandy little button that you save to your favorites in your tool bar, and it simply says "Next". Click it, and it takes you to the next blog in your reader. So sweet! How do you get this button?
Go to your google reader
----->settings (upper right corner)
----->reader settings
----->right click on the "Next" button
----->click save as bookmark
----->save to your "Favorites Bar" or drag it there

Sigh.... Makes life happy again (hehe)

Thanks Cluck Cluck Sew for the WONDERFUL tip :o)

Do you use google reader? or another "reader" platform? Or were you holding out on me and already KNEW about the "Next" button?!

Hope you had a good Wednesday! Bye for now

{Pay It Forward} Handmade

Do you love getting mail in your mail box (the snail mail kind)? Do you love crafting handmade goodies? Do you love to swap? I know I sure do!

Because I love ALL of those things, I am joining in on the {Pay It Forward} Handmade. Jennie from Clover and Violet tagged Nicole from My kids, My love, My crazyness, who tagged me! Neither of them know me, but I have been following their blogs and reading all their crafty excitment... Hopefully we will get to know each other as we {Pay It Forward}

Are you interested in joing the {Pay It Forward} Handmade game??

Here are the details:

1. I will make a little something for the first 3 people who comment on this post. It will be a surprise and it will arrive when you least expect it.

2. I will have 365 days to do it in. What's the catch? To get a handmade present from me, you have to play too! This means YOU pledge to send a little handmade something for 3 readers of your blog. It doesn't have to be quilty - just handmade.

3. You must have a blog.

4. Once you comment here [making sure to include your email address, so I can contact you!], you must post about your Pay It Forward on your blog to keep the fun going - with the Pay It Forward badge. Also, feel free to join the Flickr group to see what else is being sent!

5. Follow me! [Because it is just the nice thing to do.]

My {Pay It Forward} Handmade will be for the first three people to comment on this post and agree to play along. My plan is to get to know you through your blogs and comments and flickr to figure out what would suit your fancy. So make sure to mention your likes, dislikes, favorites, crafty wishes and upcoming life events on your blog. Join in and spread some {Handmade} love!

Amy Butler

Last night Amy Butler came for a shoppe visit! It was reschedule from a snowed-out date in January. In all honestly, it snuck up on me. I had every intention of being well prepared with maybe one of my Amy Butler projects completed, dressed like a normal person with patterns in hand.....but that didn't happen. I realized that it was the 15th on my way to work. Which for a normal person with a normal schedule this would be fine. For me, [the non-normal person] I teach dance so I was wearing what most people consider sweats/work-out clothes and I was headed to work at 3:45pm and didn't finish teaching until 7:15pm.......the shoppe closed at 8pm! Ahhhhhhhhh! Needless to say, I raced home, grabed my patterns, grabed my camera, raced to Sew to Speak and was nearly the last person in line. Whew!

While waiting in line, I met a lovely lady named Mandy. It was so nice to speak with her and get to know her a little bit (while waiting over an hour!) As we were talking we found out that her daughter takes gymnastics at the studio where I teach dance classes.....It truly is such a small world! Mandy was carrying a fabulous Cosmo Bag that she made from Amy Butler's new book Styles & Stitches. It was nice to meet you Mandy!

Finally!!! It was my turn to sit down and speak with Amy Butler!
It really was nice of her to sit down with each of us and talk. I was expecting an assembly line type of deal. But no. She took the time of out her busy and more exciting life to sit down and speak to each of us about sewing, patterns, projects we are working and our passion for fabric. What a nice treat it was.

I brought my four patterns that I have of Amy's thinking I would have to choose one to have signed, but again to my surprise she graciously signed all of them. What a nice lady she is. So genuine and caring. She also gave those who came a pack of free patterns and a lovely postcard thanking us for taking the time to sit with her and meet her.

All and all I am glad I went. I was a little nervous at first, with not being sure what to expect and especially not knowing what to say. But it was lovely.

Thanks to all the wonderful ladies from Sew to Speak! You guys rock!

Crafter's-noon Delight (Part 2!)

Monday I posted a Crafter's-noon Delight for a funky take on the Cathedral Window Block. I found another that I wanted to share...

AJ's Antics crafted this block to challenge those in a swap she was in. It has the folded cathedral window block and a counter-clockwise log cabin block, whew! She created theses tutorials Part 1 and Part 2 to teach others how to make this block. Although it looks like quite a challenge, it looks like fun too!

Good luck!

Wedding Dress

The rumours are ture.... I AM MAKING MY WEDDING DRESS! I am so excited to make it. No, I haven't started yet, but I am not worried in the least. I know it will be done, and I know it will be great!

I have 2 patterns that I love....

A vintage pattern: (bought at the Country Living Fair in Columbus, Ohio 2010)

An Amy Butler pattern:

Two very different styles, but I plan to make both of these in 100% cotton fabric to test them out and decide from there :o)

What do you think? Which one would you like to see me wear?

Enjoy the Super Bowl! Hope your team wins ;)

Crafter's-noon Delight!

I am always searching and looking through blogs looking for ideas and inspiration. Today I found something that I wanted to share with you :o)

A lot of people I know are having kids so I thought this would be something fun to share that they could easily make for that girly-girl in their life.

Isn't it so cute?! I found this idea on the blog: From an Igloo She was inspired to recreate this dress by the Hanna Andersson Ruffle Dress.

Happy Crafting!
